Established in 1983 as a Soviet style ‘’Intourist’’ agency, today HRG Azerbaijan is a business and premium class oriented company with experience gained from exposure to international standards. The company became fully privatized in 1990, which gave us an opportunity to operate freely in the market under our own strategy and policy. Our philosophy was to provide the best possible service to the local and international companies using our previous experience as former “Intourist”.
These developments enabled us to install international travel reservation software systems; train our ticketing and reservation staff; cooperate with airlines, hotels, local and international tour operators, and other travel services entitles based in Baku.
Recognition of AIT LLC by the International Air Transport Association in 1997 brought us up to the eligibility level for standardized transactions with IATA Airline. This paramount moment in our history created a myriad of opportunities for training and qualification seminars from airlines and respective organizations. As a result, we have polished our approach in finance, senior management, and strategic overview of our long-term objectives.
Exclusive representation of and partnership with Thomas Cook Worldwide Network UK (1998-1999) gave us an opportunity to become an international tour operator. Servicing customers with advanced and unique travel products was indeed an outstanding experience. Partnership has reflected our organizational culture in which we learned the most effective ways to approach our corporate and regular customers. Thomas Cook was not only a brand name but also an atmosphere where we made significant steps towards a better level of international travel services. After close up of Thomas Cook Worldwide Network we managed to keep one of our ‘’niche’’ In the market. Further, we were granted membership in American Society of Travel Agencies which presented opportunities to interact with US/Canada and South America based tour operators, bringing different concepts of approaching customers. We are constantly updated on new opportunities of selling travel products, management, promotion and staff motivation programs.
In the year 2000 we became part of Business Travel International (BTI) – the global travel management company. BTI was the world-leading travel Management Company and an acknowledged expert in the delivery of corporate travel solutions.
In 2006 BTI shareholders announced its decision to stop trading under the BTI trademark. BTI Azerbaijan was respectively re-branded into HRG (Hogg Robinson Group) Azerbaijan.
Entirely committed to value offering for clients, the HRG worldwide network offers a comprehensive range of travel consulting tools and e-instruments that include travel management and fulfillment of services; low-cost transactions; consultancy; expense management and processing; sports travel management services; conferences, meetings, incentives, and events management. HRG has representations in more than 120 countries with 3000 offices and 12 000 employees and a turnover for about 15 billion USD. Now HRG Azerbaijan has been converted to AIT LLC/GBT American Express as of May 1, 2019. This rebranding happened worldwide. American Express has joined with HRG worldwide and started functioning as GBT American Express in 2018. This process has been completed since May 1st in Azerbaijan and we have started functioning under the name of AIT LLC/GBT American Express.
The company has a dynamic executive team as well as creative, professional, and experienced employees, ensuring the highest standards of services throughout the country. Given our excellent relationship with all the vendors and partners, we are serving about the 50 largest corporations in Azerbaijan. During last years we have been honored to receive recognition and diplomas from GDS Galileo for; ‘’the highest volume of sale in CIS region.’’ AIT was honored several times with the National Brand award ‘’UGUR’’ and received awards from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture along with awards from virtually all airlines represented in Azerbaijan. In 2006 we received the Certificate of Quality Management ISO 9001-2000.
